Frequently asked questions
The practical details guests, owners and agencies most often need before using ChezFrance.
Booking, payments and listing terms
Does ChezFrance charge guests a booking fee?
No. ChezFrance does not add a guest booking fee. The dated quote records the accommodation price and any compulsory property charges that apply to the stay.
Who takes the guest payment?
The property owner or agency is the accommodation provider and merchant of record. Payment is processed through that provider’s connected Stripe account, via ChezFrance, and the checkout identifies the provider and expected statement descriptor.
Is my card charged when I send a request?
No. A normal booking request asks for no card details and creates no payment or card hold. If the provider approves it, you receive a private, time-limited link to pay the amount due.
What happens if the owner declines or if payment is not completed?
A declined normal request has no card payment to cancel. After approval, the quoted dates are held only for a limited payment window; if a successful payment is not completed in time, the request expires and the dates are released.
How are later balance payments handled?
If a balance is due later, its amount and due date are shown before the initial payment. Checkout asks for explicit consent to save the payment method and charge that agreed balance on the stated date. A late booking may require the full amount to be paid immediately.
What cancellation and refund terms apply?
The booking agreement and the accommodation provider’s stated cancellation policy govern the booking. ChezFrance does not promise additional cancellation or refund rights beyond the accepted terms and applicable law.
What does it cost an owner or agency?
A standard commission-only listing has no annual listing fee. The default ChezFrance commission is 10% of a confirmed marketplace booking. Any different account rate must be an explicit recorded override and is shown in the terms accepted before activation.
Can a Gîtes.co.uk property appear at 0% commission?
Some eligible current Gîtes.co.uk properties may be offered an explicit 0% cross-feed pilot. It is never automatic: the owner or authorised agency must accept the pilot terms and complete the necessary readiness checks.
Does listing guarantee bookings?
No. ChezFrance provides discovery, booking and owner tools but does not promise traffic, enquiries or bookings.
Must owners use every ChezFrance tool?
No. Features such as house guides, guest forms, contracts, messages, team access and calendar feeds are optional except where a control is required to price, secure or complete the transaction.
