Essential session and security cookies

Our essential session cookie keeps you signed in, remembers information as you move through a form and protects your private booking area. Blocking it can prevent sign-in and booking from working.

The session cookie is called chezfrance-session. It is encrypted and protected against access by page scripts and some cross-site requests. It normally expires after 120 minutes of inactivity. Choosing “keep me signed in” can also set a separate sign-in cookie for up to 400 days.

Privacy-preserving first-party measurement

If you allow optional analytics, we record searches, property views and how visitors found ChezFrance, using a reference stored in your session. These records exclude contact details, raw IP addresses, card data and payment-account identifiers. They are kept for 395 days.

If you choose essential cookies only, public search and property-view measurement is not recorded. Operational booking and payment records are still created when you actively request or complete those services, but without the optional browsing attribution.

Payment technology

When an approved booking reaches the secure payment step, Stripe’s interface is loaded and may set or read provider-controlled storage needed for authentication, security and fraud prevention. It is not loaded on ordinary search or property pages. Review Stripe’s own cookie and privacy information for its current details.

Cookie and storage inventory

The preference cookie named chezfrance_cookie_preferences stores either “essential only” or “measurement allowed” for 180 days. It is first-party, encrypted, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax and exists solely to honour your choice. When you choose to save homes, chezfrance_shortlist_v1 in localStorage keeps your selected public property references, list name and trip preferences on this device for 90 days. You can clear the list on the shortlist page or in your browser. It does not contain private booking access or contact details and is not used for advertising. We use no sessionStorage or third-party advertising or general analytics library.

If you choose sharing or email backup, we keep a server copy of your selected public homes and trip preferences for 90 days after its last update. Your optional email and list name are encrypted. An encrypted, HttpOnly cookie named chezfrance_shortlist_owner lets this browser manage that copy for up to 90 days. Shared links show only selected homes and the trip preferences you explicitly include, never your email or list name; you can stop sharing from the shortlist controls. Recovery links are private, single-use and expire after one hour. Clearing this device’s list does not delete a server copy. Expired server copies are removed daily. This service does not subscribe you to marketing.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require an optional marketing choice, but optional measurement does. You can change your choice below at any time. Withdrawing measurement permission prevents new optional browsing events; it does not automatically erase necessary transaction records or measurement already collected lawfully before withdrawal.
